KINGS OF THE BEACH, directed by David Johnson and Tom Feuer, is a documentary feature film that chronicles the explosive rise, and near collapse of professional beach volleyball from the mid-1980s through the mid-1990s.

The film features interviews with legends of the sport including Karch Kiraly, Sinjin Smith, Randy Stoklos, Tim Hovland, Mike Dodd, Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Steve Obradovich, Jim Menges, Dain Blanton, and many others.

From the business side, the film includes perspectives from Leonard Armato, Kevin Wulff (formerly of Miller Brewing), Jon Miller (President of NBC Sports), and other key figures who helped shape the sport’s rise.

KINGS OF THE BEACH explores the triumphs, tensions, and turning points that defined the era, featuring unprecedented, never-before-seen footage from the golden age of beach volleyball.
